03.12.2009 - Russian Scientist Receives UNESCO Prize
Rector of Moscow Institute of Open Education mathematician Alexey Semenov received the UNESCO King Hamad Bin Isa Al-Khalifa Prize 2009 for applying information and communication technologies to education.
      The topic of 2009 award was education, learning and e-teaching – professional growth of teachers for societies, built upon knowledge.
      Professor Semenov is a professional mathematician, corresponding member of Russian Academy of Sciences, who made a fundamental contribution to studying logical languages and theories, as well as complexity theory and relation algebra.
      Professor Semenov supervised development of computer environments and instruments for schoolchildren, which correspond with secondary education aims in all subjects. The scientist also is one of authors of first Russian textbook on foundations of information science and computer engineering.
