25.11.2009 - Amphibian Vehicle Developed in Russia

Russian engineers have developed a new amphibian car “Fortis”, able to climb steep slopes and ride snow and water. The vehicle is not a snowmobile, since it can slide from snow to water without sinking in a hole in the ice.

Aero-jeep, how designers call their creation, is a modification of an amphibian vehicle, combined with a motor-driven sledge. New development uses ordinary gasoline and is much more powerful than its predecessors.

Its extralight body, made of fibreglass cloth, allows reaching speeds of 140 kilometres per hour, when traveling on water. The car comfortably seats six passengers. The vehicle can be a great help to medics and emergency rescuers.
