Vladimirskaya regionVladimirskaya region - is a very unique and ancient region of Russia. All important milestones in the history of Russa have found here their reflection. The formation of northeastern Russia and princely dissension, the invasion of Tatar- Mongolian hordes and the unification of Russian lands around Moscow, Peter the First's reforms - entire millennial way from the Ryurikovich family to modern Russia, entire chronicle of the Russian Land can be read from the unique historical monuments, located in Vladimirskaya Region, from the names of the outstanding statesmen: Yuri Dolgoruky, Andrey Bogolyubsky, Aleksander Nevsky, Dmitry Pozharsky, Aleksander Suvorov, Mikhail Speransky, Mikhail Lazarev, Nikolay Kamanin...

Three thousand monuments of history and culture are located in the Vladimirskaya region. Ten masterpieces of white-stone architecture are included in the list of the world cultural historical heritage of UNESCO. The list of 115 main historical cities of Russia includes Vladimir, Aleksandrov, Gorokhovets, Murom, Kirzhach, Suzdal and Yurjev-Polsky.

The Vladimir region is a land of broadleaved woodland and softwood forest, hundreds of small and big rivers that flow through the region. All this attracts both active tourists and lovers of quiet outdoor rest.

The church of Intersession on Nerl, built in 1165 is an outstanding monument of white stone architecture. The church looks especially picturesque during spring overflows, when the Nerl River spills over its banks and the church seems to be standing deep in the water.The church of Intersession on Nerl refers to the buildings of a town Bogolyubovo, where  the residence of Andrey Bogolyubov was. The main point of interest here is Bogolyubovsky cathedral. Its most ancient  parts are pieces of white stony church of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin and a ladder tower with spiral stairs, barred with helical vault. They stand on the list of the UNESCO world patrimony.

An Alexander settlement was the governments settlement for a long time. Today it is a city Alexandrov. In the times of Ivan the Terrible here was oprichnina (political and administrative apparatus established by Ivan IV) and the settlement became the largest cultural centre, where the first Russian music conservatory was established and books printing traditions were continued.

Yurjev-Polsky town was founded in 1152. It is a small town in the Vladimir region that attracts tourists with calm, measured life, horizonless fields, and architectural monuments. St. George Monastery is a real masterpiece.

A village Sima is located near Yurjev-Polskiy, where  the house of the Golitsyns princes stands.

AThe church of Intersession on Nerlmazing combination of architecture and nature can be seen in a town Gorokhovets, founded in the 12th century. It is situated on a high bank of the Klyazma River; 18 km of its flowing into the River Ob. Houses of the town are decorated with figured ornaments, open-worked drainpipes and different weird-shaped weathercocks. The entire town is filled with the atmosphere of original architecture and beautiful picturesque nature.

The Vladimirskaya region is well-known for its trades and crafts.  The famous town Gus-Hrustalniy (Cut-glass Fowl), within and beyond Russia, is situated here, known as a large centre of glass-making. The town was established in 1756. A historical town centre is a village of the second half of the 19th the beginning of the 20th centuries. Currently, there is open a museum of crystal.

Miniature pictorial art, art-crafty metal work and satin stitch glorified Mstera town one of the unique Russian culture centres. Twigged skein makes and products made a village Lyakhi of the Melensky region famous.

Vladimir is one of the largest Golden Ring cities. It is stretched away on high hills of the Klyazma River. It was founded in the 1st quarter of the 12th century. Golden cupolas of  churches mGorokhovetsatch earthworks of an ancient fortress and the near stand buildings in Empire and baroque style. All the history stages of the city can be learned by its contemporary state.

The city was named after its founder Vladimir Monomah. In 1158-1165 seven-km earthworks were constructed in Vladimir. The earthworks were longer than the ones in Kiev and Novgorod. By that time there were built seven fortress gates, the main of which white stony Golden are one of the best-known sightseeings in the city. This is a rarest architectural monument of Ancient Russia.

The Cathedral of Assumption (Uspensky cathedral) is the centre of the architectural citys ensemble. It was on fire and rebuilt several times. Today it represents mixed architectural complex, resulted from two building processes. In 1888-1891 the cathedral was restored.

Vladimir is famous for its monasteries. In 1192-1195 the church of the Nativity of the Virgin was erected, where Alexander Nevsky was buried. Laurentian Chronicle was created here in 1391. The buildings of the 17th centuHistorical center of Vladimirry stand on the territory of the church. The Knyaginin convent was laid down on the threshold of the 12-13th centuries . Its main point of interest is the cathedral of Assumption, the 16th century.

Dmitrievsky Cathedral (1197) is a palace of Vsevolod Bolshoe Gnezdo (Vsevolod the Big Nest). The cathedral is decorated with more than 500 carved figures. Stone carving points out Dmitrievsky cathedral. Numerous reliefs depict plants, animals and birds.

Brick churches instead of wooden ones began to be erected in the 17th century. The Bogoroditskaya church (Our Lady church) with hip roof bell tower was built in that period.

Starting 1778 there began a vast civil building in Vladimir. That time trade rows were built, which occupied a whole block. And  Pyatnitskaya church was erected opposite the trade rows, a patroness of trade. State Chamber is towered in the centre of the city.

Vladimir of today has kept ancient street and square buildings. There are a lot of small two-storey houses in the centre: the first store is made of stone, and the second one is wooden. Vladimir is a large centre of international tourism with developed infrastructure. You can enjoy silence of nature and buzz of night clubs. Visit Vladimir and you will dive into cozy city with grandeur architecture of ancient times.
